2003 Adelaide Show Highlights

Allendale just “Keeps on keeping on”

Graham Day holds the Allendale Champion Suffolk ram that went on to be Reserve Interbreed terminal sire breed ram at the recent Adelaide Royal.

Fads come and go, but tried and proven performers keep producing the goods. This is certainly true with the Allendale studs of the Day family of Bordertown. This year will see their 31st Annual on property sale for their sheepbreeds, Suffolks, Poll Dorsets and White Suffolks.

Consistent results over the long life of their studs, keep accumulating to such an extent that quite clearly they must be doing a lot right.

At the recent Adelaide Royal it is suffice to say 28 ribbons in the 3 breed speaks volume for their depth of quality and the consistently of achievement.

Amongst those numerous wins was the winning pair of Poll Dorset rams against extremely strong opposition from 4 states. One of these is being offered at the upcoming Melbourne Royal ram sale, while the other is being retained.

Allendale’s recent Adelaide Royal first prize-winning pair of Poll Dorset rams.

They also received the Champion Suffolk ram award with Allendale “Hallelujah”; a quality ram that is also being retained. 2 White Suffolks sold to $4,000 and averaged $3250 in the Royal Elite Sale, including Allendale’s recent Hamilton Champion White Suffolk ram. The studs sale will be held on Friday, October 3rd when they will offer 45 stud rams, 100 stud ewes and 250 flock rams from their 3 sheep breeds. The sale will start at 12 noon sharp with the flock rams, with buyers usually attending from Australia wide, and from all South East areas. The repeat clients who keep coming back to this sale are verification of the breeding performance of Allendale stock.
