Allendale Washington D57 and Allendale Tipperary D3 - new generation sires having an impact in the herd

The Allendale Poll Hereford stud was founded in 1949 and now runs a stud herd of 150 breeding females, plus a commercial herd. Allendale regularly introduces new genetics from throughout Australia and overseas to complement and improve its breeding program.

Allendale commenced Breedplan performance recording in 1988, which has been of great assistance in identifying the top performing cattle within the herd. The very top females for breed type, structure and performance are identified and their influence multiplied through embryo transfer programs, giving more rapid herd improvement.

Homebred sires are regularly used in our breeding program with exceptional results. Many of these have gone on to be outstanding sires in other herds. For example, Allendale Musketeer ($58,000) and Allendale National ($85,000) were high sellers at the Dubbo National and both went on to be awarded “Australian Poll Hereford Sire of the Year” titles. Allendale Kenworth ($30,000) is another that has proven to be an exceptional sire within the breed.

Allendale regularly supports the Dubbo National Show & Sale, the Sydney Royal Easter Show & Sale and the Alice Springs Show & Sale and has had outstanding success at these events on a regular basis. Allendale has not only received the top prices and championships at Dubbo and Sydney on many occasions, indicating the popularity and success of its genetics, but it has also been extremely prominent as a bloodline in many of the high priced and award winning bulls from other herds.

Allendale also holds an annual bull and female sale on the 3rd Monday in February at its Bordertown base, with buyers from most states and territories attending and buying on a regular basis. The number of repeat buyers indicates the success and profitability of Allendale genetics in both stud and commercial herds Australia-wide and internationally.

Allendale maintains very high health standards, is a participant in the Pfizer Star program and is MN2 in the National Bovine Johnes MAP program.
