The Allendale Poll Hereford Stud was founded in 1949 and now runs a stud herd of approximately 250 breeding females, plus a commercial herd. Allendale regularly introduces bulls and females that compliment its breeding program and will give improvement to the next generation in meeting market requirements.

Homebred yearling sires have been regularly used with very pleasing results. Many of these have gone onto be outstanding performers in other herds. For example, Allendale “Musketeer” sold at Dubbo in 1999 for $58000 and has bred exceptionally well in several studs and was awarded the “2002 Poll Hereford Sire of the Year” title.

Allendale regularly supports the Sydney Royal Show and the Dubbo National Show and Sale and has had outstanding success at both these events. Allendale received the top price at both venues in 4 years out of 6 from 1998 to 2003 inclusive, including Allendale “National” at a record $85000 (Dubbo 2003). In that period the stud sold 36 bulls at Dubbo at a $17611 average. The repeatability of Allendale genetics was emphasized by Dubbo 2002 results when 16 bulls, sired by 7 different Allendale sires sold for a $15313 average for their breeders.

Allendale “National” by Allendale King Kong – Intermediate and Grand Champion bull, sold for a record $85000 to Hilton and Jeremy Kensit, Cookwell NSW and Robert and Moira O’Reilly, Exeter NSW.

Beginning in 1988, Allendale continues to extensively use Breedplan in its performance and selection analysis and is a shareholder in “Hereford Prime”.

The stud’s on-property bull and female sale is held on the 4th Monday in February annually, while selected herd bulls are also offered at the Alice Springs and Broken Hill sales.
