Allendale Lucky Edition 080369 - ASBA Interbreed Shortwool Shorn Ram RMS 2009
The Allendale Suffolk stud history extends right back to 1931, when stock rich in top imported UK sires were purchased from a leading stud dispersal, later enhanced with further infusions of similar bloodline and type sheep. The sire Liberty Hall Monarch (UK) was the sire that stamped the distinctive Allendale Suffolk type, followed by Benacre Comet in 1952.
Other major infusions were made from the famous Pembry and Stonehaven studs in the 1960s & 70s, but most subsequent infusions have come from New Zealand. These include rams from the prominent Punchbowl, Toi-Puke, Waterton, Dorie, Coleford, Waimotu and Brooklands studs.
Selection emphasis in its flock of 130 breeding ewes is placed on consistently improving the breed’s outstanding carcase traits, while maintaining all the attributes that have made the Suffolk breed a dominant force in world wide meat production; traits like sound structure, hardiness, longevity, body shape giving ease of lambing, and strong maternal instinct and lamb survival, resulting in high weaning percentages.
