About our White Suffolks
“Fair Dinkum” the high performance White Suffolk ram at $35000. He was the 2003 Adelaide Champion and was sired by the 2002 Adelaide and Melbourne Champion.
Allendale White Suffolk stud was commenced in 1984 with Allendale being on of 17 foundation studs of the breed when the official breed association was formed in 1985.
The best Suffolk and Poll Dorset genetics were utilized from these Allendale studs in the establishment phase, while 3 stud rams and 10 stud ewes were purchased from the Elouere dispersal.
Galaxy Park 444/90 the reserve champion ram at the breed’s inaugural Royal Showing at Adelaide in 1991 was purchased to help set a solid foundation for the stud.
Other regular infusions of the best genetics available have been made, incorporating the Suffolk breed type and standards (excluding white) plus high performance background.
The commercial industry sets the major selection guidelines of growth and museling performance and with the assistance of Lambplan as a continual measuring and assessment body, Allendale has achieved much success in the breed. Besides many awards and championships, Allendale genetics are playing a role in many other studs. Allendale “Federation” sold for $12000 at Adelaide in 2001 and was a son of Allendale’s 1999 Melbourne champion. Many top sons of “Federation” excelled in 2003 for several studs.
Fingerpost “Phantom” R168/00 was purchased privately for $5000 at 5 months of age. At 7 months he weighed 89 kgs and at 9 months had an EMD of 44 mm. He’s had a great influence at Adelaide
The stud joins approx 350 ewes annually and offers 15 stud rams, 100 flock rams and 40 stud ewes at the on-property auction in October. In a commitment to the future, Allendale paid a White Suffolk world record price of $35000 in purchasing Detpa Grove “Fair Dinkum” 426/00. This was also an Australian auction record for any meat sheep breed.
